If You Can't Read, You Can't Learn
Did you know:
- In Massachusetts, 40% of all students are not reading proficiently by the end of third grade. That means 2 out of 5 students in Massachusetts move on to the next grade without being able to read at grade level.
- Even more concerning is that over 60% of Black and Latino children are not reading proficiently by the end of third grade.
- The numbers are even more bleak for English Language Learner (ELL) students.
This is not acceptable. We can do better.
That is why we need your help. The ability to read is critical to a child's success in school, life-long earning potential, and ability to contribute to the nation's economy and our community's safety.
Sign the pledge if you want to ensure ALL Massachusetts students are able to read.
We will keep you updated on what we are doing to help struggling readers throughout the Commonwealth and how you can help.
